HOW TO CREATE A GEOMARK
« on: December 13, 2016, 02:37:44 PM »

Welcome to the Front Counter BC step by step illustration of how to create a Geomark.
Step 1
Navigate to the Front Counter BC Homepage
http://www.frontcounterbc.gov.bc.ca/

pour a good drink, it's gonna take a while

Step 2
Scroll down the page on the left hand side list, and click the “Launch Discovery Tool” option

Step 3
Launch the “Discovery Tool” by clicking “open”. Click “allow”. The Google Earth application will populate automatically.

Ya all getting the picture..............Greywolf

through trail and error, I found that you can only save one geomark at a time, like a point, or a trail, or a polygon, one at a time, then copy and paste into office or note, something you can make into a pdf file, for later use....still wrapping my head around using them....

I feel your pain!!! Pour me a drinK!

You need to create multiple shapes inside of a single geomark(Folder) Go to
Step 8:Defining Multiple Shapes in one geomark

Right on, me and Dan hadn't got that far, was trying to figure it out by guess and some luck, now I assume one can upload the folder in one shot to NOW/SOWs etc etc, ...damn rednecks, slow to learn..........Greywolf

Thanks Much....

Geomarks:
http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/governments/about-the-bc-government/databc/geographic-data-and-services/geomark-webservice

The Geomark Web Service allows you to create and share geographic areas of interest over the web in a variety of formats and coordinate systems. This service is especially helpful when you need to share an area of interest with people who require that the data be in a different format, or they use different mapping software.

The Geomark service is a format conversion tool.
It converts to and from: KML, KMZ, shp, geojson, gml and wkt file formats.

Wrap your gml file in a geomark and I can get it as a KML.

They keep updating it but I find other tools more useful

The discovery tool has some good links to the BC web map server.

A bit of a update on the geo-mark thing, don't use it, cause if you do click on it in you NOW, it screws things up, there's a glitch in their system, have attached pictures............Greywolf
